Year 3

Welcome to Year 3! Our class teachers are Miss Moore (Monday-Wednesday) and Miss Ogden (Thursday-Friday).  Our teaching assistants are Mrs Pearce and Mrs Fernandez.

This term I am sure you will join me in welcoming Miss Mitchell who will be teaching Monday-Wednesday as part of her teaching placement.

During Spring Term 1, PE will be on a Thursday so please make sure the children come dressed in PE kit on this day.

We will also be taking part in Forest School on Tuesday afternoons (this will begin in week 2). Please ensure the children are wearing appropriate clothing on this day - long sleeves, long trousers (tracksuit/leggings), waterproof coat, a change of shoes that are suitable to get muddy (wellies are best). Children should come in wearing their normal school shoes or black trainers. Change of shoes should be in a NAMED carrier bag. All bottoms should be navy or black. Their t-shirt  should be navy, white or black and their jumper should be navy or black but please be aware they will most probably get muddy.

Homework

Homework will be given out each Friday and should be back in school by the following Wednesday - there is a copy on this page and a paper copy will be given out with homework folders next week.

Reading: Your child has both a physical reading book and an online book (if they are still using RWI). Please try to read with them daily (either a school book or a home book) and write a comment in their reading record. Additionally, we ask that your child brings their reading book and record to school every day.

Maths: Please encourage your child to access Numbots/TT Rockstars weekly. This is a valuable tool for their learning. In KS2 we encourage the children to use TT Rockstars, if they haven’t already but they can still use Numbots alongside this to consolidate their learning if they wish.

Spelling: Similarly, please ensure your child is completing their weekly spelling homework on Ed Shed. New challenges are set each Friday and are available until the following Friday.

The on-line homework is designed to be 'little and often' activities to regularly help the children to practice and embed these elements of their learning so that they become habit and second nature.
