Music

At St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, we are committed to providing a well-rounded education that includes a robust music curriculum. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality music lessons that allow our students to develop their musical talents and enrich their learning experience. Our music curriculum follows the Charanga scheme, which provides an engaging and comprehensive approach to teaching music. With Charanga, our students learn music through a variety of methods, including singing, playing instruments, and composing their own music. Our goal is to foster a lifelong love of music in our pupils and help them develop their musical skills to their full potential.

In addition to the Charanga scheme, we also offer violin lessons taught by our own experienced music teacher. Our violin lessons are designed to introduce pupils to the fundamentals of violin playing, including proper posture, hand positioning and bowing techniques. Children develop their skills and are encouraged to practice regularly. They are offered guidance and support to help them progress. By offering violin lessons in-house, we can ensure that our children receive personalised attention and instruction, helping them to reach their full potential as musicians.

Finally, we are proud to partner with the Oxfordshire Music Service to provide our students with access to a wide range of musical experiences. The Oxfordshire Music Service offers a wealth of resources and opportunities for our students, including a range of instrumental lessons, access to professional musicians, orchestras, and music festivals. Through this partnership, our students can participate in a variety of musical activities, including workshops and performances. At St Joseph’s, we provide our children with a music education that will enrich their lives and inspire their creativity.
