PE

At St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality Physical Education (PE) curriculum that aligns with the Get Set 4 PE programme. We ensure that all children have access to a wide range of sports and physical activities which develop their physical and emotional wellbeing. We believe that a strong PE curriculum is fundamental to the overall development of our students and promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.

To ensure that we deliver the best possible PE curriculum, we have partnered with Ignite Sports Coaches who work alongside our teachers to provide regular CPD opportunities. This collaboration ensures that our teachers have the latest knowledge and skills to teach PE effectively. It also enables us to provide a broad and balanced PE curriculum that caters to the needs of all our children.

At St Joseph’s, we are committed to ensuring that children learn essential life skills and water safety, and therefore, we provide swimming lessons to all children in year 3 and year 5.

We are committed to promoting healthy competition among our students, and therefore, we have regular internal and intra-school competitions. These competitions provide an opportunity for our pupils to showcase their skills and abilities and develop their sportsmanship and teamwork. We also organise sports week every year, which provides an opportunity to promote less well-known sports such as rock-climbing, martial arts, and Dragonball.

Finally, we believe in providing our students with opportunities to pursue their interests in sports and physical activities outside of school hours. Therefore, we work closely with local sports clubs, such as Chinnor Rugby Club and Thame Cricket Club, to provide after-school clubs for our students. These clubs provide our students with opportunities to develop their skills, socialise with other children, and pursue their interests in sports and physical activities.
