St Joseph's Parish

Our Parish

At St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, we are in the privileged position of having our parish church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, directly next to our school. This enables us to build strong relationships between our parish priest, Father Michael, our parish Sister, Sister Anne-Marie and parishioners. The church is part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

As a Catholic primary school, we endeavour to collaborate with both the Home and the Church, guiding the children of the parish into the Catholic faith tradition, while also upholding the highest standards and aspirations within the national curriculum.

Each week, different groups attend, read and sing at mass. Additionally, we regularly attend mass as a whole school, particularly when celebrating special feast days and solemnities.

The Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation

The sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion are celebrated from Year three, and Confirmation in Years six and seven, where families and young people show real commitment and a willingness to grow in faith.

First Holy Communion is taught by our Parish Priest, Father Michael, in the church, and lessons are taught outside the school curriculum. Strong links and cooperation between the school and church are essential, and the RE lead teacher is involved in the preparation at all times.

Parents are also expected to come to specific sessions and learn with their children.

  • First Reconciliation date: Tuesday 12th March at 4.00pm
  • First Holy Communion date: Sunday 26th May at 11am
  • First Holy Communion Breakfast: Sunday 26th May at approximately 12.00pm, held after the First Holy Communion mass in the school hall. This year the school staff and parishioners will be hosting the celebration.
