Computing and Internet Safety

At school, we have a class set of laptops and ipads to support our curriculum.  We also have state of the art interactive smart boards to support teaching and learning.  We teach the national curriculum including programming.

We take internet safety very seriously and have internet safety lessons built into our curriculum throughout the year.  We discuss issues such as leaving a digital footprint,  being a good online friend, following the SMART rules and what to do when things go wrong.

The Governors have updated our user agreement for computing and internet safety.  It can be found on the Policy page and below.  This lays out internet expectations at school and the support we ask from home.

Many children now have access to the internet, which can be a valuable resource for supporting school work, or just for having fun! We appreciate that it may be hard for parents to monitor exactly what their child is doing when they are online, but I would urge you to be alert and proactive to ensure that your child stays safe. Legally speaking, children under 13 should not be using social networking sites at all, but it is important that children should be aware that there is certain information that they should never divulge on any websites. This includes:

  • Their full name
  • Their age
  • Their address
  • Their town/village
  • Their school – including pictures in school uniform which would identify the school
  • Their email address
  • Any specific information about their movements – dates, times and locations

CEOP (the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) has published guidance for young people on the use of the internet. You can see this at www.thinkuknow.co.uk, which had sections for children of different age groups. Some other websites you may find useful are:
