Year 1

Welcome to Year 1, where we love to learn and play! We are taught by Miss Oakley on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Miss Ogden teaches us on Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs Williamson supports us in our classroom every day and we also have Mrs Pearce and Miss C who help us occasionally too!

This term our topic is 'Significant Explorers'. The children will compare different explorers and the contributions they have made. We will think about their equipment and how being an explorer in the past was different to today. In Art, we will be using paper to create interesting 3D sculptures. In Computing, we will be continuing to learn about online safety, culminating in discussing a sensible online/offline balance. In RE, we will be thinking about Pentecost before moving on to think about how we can spread Jesus' story and how we can serve him today. In Science, the children will be focusing on plants. English this term will be based upon 'Goldilocks and just the One Bear' by Leigh Hodgkinson. In Maths, we will be focusing on position, direction, coins and telling the time.

PE this term will be Net and Wall Games and this will take place on Fridays.
We have Forset School this term, which will take place on Thursdays.
Homework will be set each Friday and is to be completed by the following Wednesday. This will be a combination of written homework, Numbots (online) and Spelling Shed (online).
