Year 4
Welcome to Year 4! Our class teacher is Mr Neal and our support assistant is Mrs Karpovych.
This term, we will be looking at the Anglo-Saxons . Within this topic, we will be looking at why the Romans left Britain, where the Anglo-Saxons came from and why they settled in Britain, as well as what history tells us about Saxon lifestyles, including how they lived and their conversion to Christianity. Our English work will also support this, we will be looking at the story (poem) of Beowulf and then creating our own Saxon myth in the same style.

Homework:
Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due the following Wednesday. The homework will consist of one piece of maths, one English task (this may have a reading or a writing focus). As the year progresses, it is also likely to include one piece of spelling homework. In addition to this, we ask that you continue to read with your child for 20 minutes a night in order to build fluency and comprehension skills and each week spend at least 20 minutes practising our timetable of Times Table Rockstars (each child has their own account).
