Inspired to be our best.....
The Diocesan Planning Framework lays out exactly what needs to be taught in each year group and we follow the liturgical year - this means we follow cycle of the church year from Advent through to Easter and Pentecost. We teach RE for two hours a week and this is often integrated into other subject areas (where appropriate).
We aim to make our RE teaching engaging and relevant to our pupils - whether they are Christian or not. We have trained our teachers in using 'Philosophy for Children' (P4C) to stimulate debate and reflection and give children a voice in questioning, challenging and deepening their understanding. The RE lessons strongly reflect our core values - set out in our school mission - https://www.st-josephs.oxon.sch.uk/home/mission-statement
We also, in line with the curriculum, teach about other world faiths, celebrations and festivals - where possible linking to the children's own experiences.
